Maurice Bogaert en Dan Walwin winnen jaarlijkse projectprijsvraag van Filmhuis Den Haag/ZAAL5

Zondag 8 mei koos de jury MAURICE BOGAERT en DAN WALWIN als winnaars van de BNG WORKSPACE PROJECTPRIJZEN 2011 van Filmhuis Den Haag/ZAAL5. Uit de 76 inzendingen waren eerder reeds tien genomineerden geselecteerd die hun projecten mochten toelichten.

De jury koos unaniem voor MAURICE BOGAERT (1975, Heerlen) als eerste winnaar. "Een spannende, conceptueel sterke installatie, verstild en suggestief. Zonder gebruik te maken van bewegend beeld of projectie ontvouwt het verhaal zich aan de hand van de architectuur van een filmset. In 'The apartment' neemt de toeschouwer de rol van de camera over."

Over de tweede winnaar DAN WALWIN (1986, Somerset GB) zegt het juryrapport: "Het project 'Tele-' kenmerkt zich door een persoonlijke, bescheiden en intrigerende onderwerpskeuze. Twee films die op fijnzinnige wijze aan elkaar verbonden worden, waarbij het geluid de mediator is. De cinematografische middelen van zowel documentaire als fictie worden gericht en overtuigend ingezet. "

Het project The Apartment van Maurice Bogaert zal te zien zijn in ZAAL5 van 22 september t/m 19 oktober 2011. De opening is op 22 september om 20.00 uur.

Het project  Tele- van Dan Walwin is te zien in november/december 2011.

Maurice Bogaert and Dan Walwin are the winners of the annual project competition of Filmhuis Den Haag.

On Sunday 8 May the jury chose Maurice Bogaert and Dan Walwin as winners of the BNG WORKSPACE PROJECT COMPETITION 2011 of Filmhuis Den Haag/ZAAL5. Workspace 11 received 76 proposals, of which 10 were invited to elaborate on their proposal.

The jury was unanimous in its choice of the first winner. “An exciting, conceptually powerful installation, serene and suggestive. Without using moving images or projections, the narrative unfolds hand in hand with the architecture of a film set. In “The Apartment” by Maurice Bogaert, the viewer fulfils the role of the camera.

Choosing the second winner required a lot more discussion. The jury was very taken by the humour and socially critical view of Jonathan Roorda in his project “The Supermarket”. It is a total installation that works in an unexpected way, that also uses media outside ZAAL5, and which thus involves the audience in the work in multiple ways.
Nevertheless, the jury finally decided to award the prize to Dan Walwin for his proposal “Tele-”. The project is characterised by a personal, modest and intriguing choice of subject. Two films are interconnected in a finely wrought manner, with sound as mediator between them. The cinematographic means of both documentary and fiction are applied in a well-considered and persuasive way.

The project The Apartment by Maurice Bogaert will be shown in ZAAL5 from 22 September untill 19 October. The opening is on 22 September at 20.00 hrs.

The project Tele- by Dan Walwin will be shown in November/December 2011.
